Energy Industry Review Magazine features an exclusive interview with Doru Avramescu, CEO of Roserv Green Energy, in which he outlines one of the most ambitious industrial reconversions in Central and Eastern Europe: transforming the RAFO Onești platform from a historic refinery into an integrated energy ecosystem dedicated to the green transition.
Drawing on over two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, Avramescu explains how the site's vast existing infrastructure — 272 hectares, its own rail network, 560,000 m³ of storage capacity, and direct connections to national energy grids — provides the foundation for a forward-looking project: HVO and SAF production (450,000 tons/year), bioethanol, green hydrogen, a 126 MW solar park, and polymerized bitumen.
Developed alongside leading international partners such as Honeywell UOP, Praj Industries, and Deloitte, the project aims to reduce Romania's dependence on diesel imports, create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, and position Onești as a renewable energy hub for Eastern Europe.
